Damage Symptoms

What Your Car Is Telling You.

After an accident, the symptom you notice is rarely the whole story. Find what your vehicle is doing below, learn what usually causes it, and see how we repair it at 1903 Broadway in Brooklyn.

Water leak after a collision

Usual cause: Impact distorts door skins, window channels, weatherstrip mounting flanges or the seam sealer along the cowl and trunk gutters. Water then tracks into the footwell, trunk or headliner.

How we fix it: We locate the entry point with a water test, restore the panel flange or seam, replace the weatherstrip, and reseal with the correct seam sealer so it stays dry.

Auto Body Repair

ADAS or driver-assist warning light after an accident

Usual cause: Cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors mounted in the windshield, grille, bumpers and mirrors moved out of aim, or their wiring was damaged.

How we fix it: We scan for fault codes, repair the mount or sensor, then perform static and dynamic calibration with a documented post-repair scan.

ADAS Calibration

Car pulls to one side after an accident

Usual cause: Usually a suspension mounting point or structural rail that shifted. Wheel alignment alone will not hold if the structure or thrust line is out.

How we fix it: The vehicle is measured on a frame bench against factory data, pulled back into tolerance, then aligned and road tested.

Frame & Unibody

Uneven panel gaps

Usual cause: Bent hinges, a shifted fender or a compressed structural rail. Gaps are the clearest visible sign that something underneath is not square.

How we fix it: Hinges, brackets and mounting points are restored or replaced and panels are refitted to factory gap tolerances.

Structural Repair

Door won't close or latch properly

Usual cause: Door shell distortion, a bent hinge, a shifted striker or B-pillar movement from a side impact.

How we fix it: We measure the opening, straighten or replace the hinge and striker mounting, and repair or replace the door shell as needed.

Collision Repair

Cracked or misaligned bumper

Usual cause: Snapped mounting tabs, a crushed energy absorber and a bent reinforcement bar behind the cover — even when the cover itself looks minor.

How we fix it: The cover is welded and reinforced or replaced, all broken hardware is renewed, and the assembly is refitted to correct gaps.

Bumper Repair

Dented door, hood or fender

Usual cause: Parking impacts, door dings from tight streets, shopping carts, or hail on horizontal panels.

How we fix it: If the paint is unbroken we remove the dent with paintless dent repair. If the paint is cracked, the panel is repaired and refinished.

Dent Repair

Deep scratches or paint mismatch

Usual cause: Key marks, wall and column scrapes, or a previous repair sprayed without a measured color match or a proper blend.

How we fix it: Clear-coat scratches are polished; deeper damage is filled, primed and refinished using a spectrophotometer color reading and blended into adjacent panels.

Paint & Refinishing

Peeling clear coat or faded paint

Usual cause: Years of UV exposure break down the clear coat, starting on the roof, hood and trunk where the sun hits hardest.

How we fix it: The failed clear coat is sanded back, resealed and refinished — polishing cannot save a panel that has started to lift.

Refinishing

Rust on a body panel or rocker

Usual cause: Road salt and moisture attacking a stone chip, seam or repaired area where corrosion protection was never restored.

How we fix it: Rust is cut out, new metal is welded in, and seam sealer, cavity wax and corrosion protection are restored before refinishing.

Rust Repair

Broken headlight, tail light or mirror

Usual cause: Direct impact, or a bracket that snapped even though the lens survived, letting moisture in.

How we fix it: Lamps, housings, brackets and mirrors are replaced with OEM-quality parts, aimed correctly, and any camera in the mirror is recalibrated.

Lamp & Mirror Replacement

Rattles or wind noise after a repair

Usual cause: Clips and fasteners left out, trim not fully seated, or a weatherstrip that was not reset when the panel went back on.

How we fix it: We disassemble the affected area, replace missing hardware, reseat the trim and seals, and confirm the noise is gone on a road test.

Repair Correction

Vehicle is not drivable

Usual cause: Structural damage, fluid loss, wheels out of alignment beyond safe travel, or airbag deployment.

How we fix it: Do not drive it. We tow it in from anywhere in the five boroughs and start the estimate and claim from the shop.
